Therapeutic
Recreation provides treatment services and/or recreation services to the
patients of Cherry Hospital. Therapeutic Recreation (T.R.) treatment
services focus on improving functioning and independence as well as
reducing or eliminating the effects of illness. T.R. sessions
are goal-oriented and assure active therapeutic efforts are being made
in order to meet identified patient needs. Groups are provided in the
Unit Treatment Malls and the
Therapeutic Center. Specialized T.R. groups are also developed and
implemented for patients with specific needs within the specialty units.
Recreation
services are available for all interested patients to provide
opportunities for socialization and active participation and to promote
wellness and fitness. Scheduled recreation activities are offered
throughout the week and may occur in the specialty units, the
Therapeutic Center, Cherry-O’Berry Park, or the community.
