      Volunteers and Religious Services

The Special Services Department at Cherry Hospital is intended to provide a comprehensive and varied program of volunteer support and religious services. Volunteer coordinators recruit individuals to work in both patient and non-patient areas and groups to provide entertainment or parties for patients.  A full-time chaplain facilitates weekly treatment groups and worship services.

It is also the department's desire to enhance the lives of mentally ill patients through supplemental resources. Due to the indigent status of many Cherry Hospital patients and the limited budget, there are material needs that can only be met through contributions.  A list of patients' needs is updated annually and is available upon request.

Items available to patients through Special Services include:

Christmas gifts
Patients' benevolent funds
Birthday presents
Patient store items
School supplies
Personal care/grooming supplies
Religious literature
Magazines
Clothing

Special Services coordinates tours of the hospital and maintains a museum that is open to the general public. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. If you are interested in a tour, visiting the museum or volunteer opportunities, please contact us at 919-731-3417.
