The primary purpose of Rehabilitation Services is to assist the patient to achieve an optimal level of functioning, self-care, self-responsibility, independence, and quality of life. Patients are assessed to identify services and accommodations helpful to increasing their readiness for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation Services provides patients with skills and supports to function in an environment with as much independence and choice and as little supervision and as few restrictions as possible. Rehabilitation Services provides services, activities, and/or access to materials to every patient at Cherry Hospital.

The Rehabilitation Services Department includes a number of disciplines, each providing a unique set of specialized services. Staff members function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary hospital treatment teams in an effort to return the consumer to his or her optimal level of functioning. Qualified professionals provide rehabilitation services consistent with professional standards of practice.  Rehabilitation Services programming in the patient living units is planned and implemented in collaboration with the Unit Directors and other unit staff.

Rehabilitation Services are provided by Creative/Expressive Arts Therapies, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation and Work Therapy.
