The Clinical Services Department is composed of the Medical Staff, Dental, Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Medical Education. Collectively, this group provides a wide range of services for the patients of Cherry Hospital, including all psychiatric and medical needs. In addition, Clinical Services is involved in the education of medical students, residents, and child fellows from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Medical students from several international medical schools also train at Cherry Hospital. Psychiatrists serve as team leaders for all the psychiatric treatment units. Medical physicians lead the nursing facility treatment teams. The hospital is affiliated with the Brody School of Medicine--East Carolina University, several nursing schools, area community colleges and an assortment of other schools and departments in colleges and universities across North Carolina and in adjacent states. Cherry Hospital is accredited by the North Carolina Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for the physicians through the Medical Education Department. This department also works with local Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) and the North Carolina Psychological Association (NCPA) to provide continuing education credit to the Psychologists, Social Workers and other professional staff.
